Dellroy, Ohio…..
Another mammoth shooting event of epic proportions was held at BTM Clays with co-sponsorship from Dawson Enterprises. With 100 shooters participating for the TOP-GUN prize of a new 28 gauge SKB shotgun. With perfect weather these 100 competitors took to the course that was set-up specifically for the .410 or 28 gauge shotgun.
The TOP-GUN in the 28 gauge was the enchanting Jim Burress. He was followed up by Jim Domer in second place and Vic Konom finishing third. Taking TOP-GUN in the .410 category was Gorgeous George Frey with second place going to Sam Pake and third to place Brett Restetter.
Twenty two shooters were in the shoot off for OVERALL TOP-GUN making owner Skeeter Richards very pleased to have this large of a group. After the first round of 5 targets each there were 5 shooters that had broken 4 of the 5. Three of these five competitors were eliminated in the next round leaving Dave Cavelli and Bob Smyth battling for top honors. Once again in the next round of 5 targets 4 were broken by both shooters. In the last and deciding round Symth was up first and broke only 3 of 5 targets. As Cavelli stepped in to the station Ole Ferdie using his Super-Snooper long distance hearing dish heard Cavelli whisper to himself “Your mine turkey” and smashed all 5 for a compelling win. Just a note from Ferdie – Cavelli did this after getting his arm caught in one of the auto traps and shot with a very bad gash in that arm. Kind of a Rocky-ESK performance Ole Ferdie thinks.
Another competition on this day was the Atomic Rabbits and Flying targets. Ole Ferdie saw this Vic guy spend about $300.00 on shells at this little shooting game. I think Vic’s win here cost him about $200.00 per duffle bag as his name was pulled from the winning tickets.
Ole Ferdie using his Super-Snooper long distance hearing dish also picked up this little choice verbiage over by the lunch counter from Joe “The Carroll County Tomcat”. “Hey, can I have half your wiener” Ole ferdie is not to up on all the current hip talk you Americans use here in the states. But back home in the U.K. Ole Ferdie would be a little nervous!
So until next time…………
This is Ferdie Krieghoff reporting and remember “Keep bust’in them
